We thought about kindness and created an awesome craft for the children to make and give away! Kindness…it’s a quality we all value, we notice kind people, we’re inspired by kindness especially when it’s unexpected!
There’s a story in the bible about a girl called Ruth who after the death of her father-in-law and then her husband, journeys with her mother-in -law as they travel back to the family homeland. Ruth demonstrates incredible kindness (among other qualities) and as the story plays out her kindness does not go unnoticed and eventually leads to romance and marriage as the kindness is reciprocated (it’s a fab story…google it if you get chance!)
While we’re on the google thing I looked up quotes about kindness…the 14th Dalai Lama said ‘be kind whenever possible. It’s always possible.” Aesop said “no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted” and “God”(!?!?) in the film Evan Almighty asks “How do you change the world…one single act of random kindness at a time.”
So with these thoughts mind wouldn’t it be awesome to look for those moments where we can choose to be kind…maybe it starts at home (often the most challenging place) with the children or your significant other or in my case especially, the dog!? Maybe it’s choosing those moments at work or on the school run or at the gym or in the supermarket…to create an opportunity to be kind, to bring a smile and to spread a little joy! Worth a try, right?!
